perhaps i wasn't clear enough.
the tab is on the screen protection, once that's off you've a problem
you need an indelible ink pen to write B or G or R on the back.
i didn't think of it (fast enough) :D

silly i know, but do those power rails have a gap in continuity at the middle tab position ?
that's caught me once, now i just assume it's gapped and insert links across anyway. :)

did you rebuild on a different breadboard or just swap mcu and move some wires ?

Have not worked directly in the IDF. Have used those function calls from within Arduino. I have probably 5 different varieties of ESP32 modules.
