alternate functions, in the data sheet it lists each possible use for a pin.
look for alternate functions, istr a 9 page table listing them, i printed it out for myself :D
also look in the reference manual.

do a forum search for 'afio libmaple', there's a recent post about how to use them

pretty sure i've seen this done with 'templates' that work on any type of arg ?

well past me in c++ just noted it as a maybe useful at the time

someone finally clarified that, drives me nuts

on subject of nice boards, be aware that on one such 103c8 (black & has a concentric circles logo), I2C1 is not on PB6/PB7.
not got that one going either. i suspect a comprehensive pin waggling suite is called for :)

try www.st.com, search 'nucleo st-link' 2nd & 3rd are good branching points and look in the user guides for additional links
