Re: J-Link EDU Mini $18

Segger Embedded Studio is not Eclipse based and it is written in Qt. It has a much cleaner interface, but I haven't used it, because I don't have a Jlink or a spare STLink that I could "switch" to Jlink mode.

Re: Autodesk acquires CadSoft

Really? They informed their customers about it only this month? http://hackaday.com/2016/06/29/the-eagle-has-landed-at-autodesk/ | http://hackaday.com/2016/07/05/the-future-of-eagle-cad/ ...but it depends from your preferences. In case you don't want to learn anything new, then you have to stick wit...

Re: Custom STM32F103C8T6

But these jumpers are for SWD interface only. In case you want to use serial interface as well, then you need to remove mentioned 0 ohm resistors.

Give it another try with other baudrates. I thought mine is death, but after changing it to 19200 it magically started responding.

Re: Additional MCUs as peripherals

Or you can use CAN. It has the same disadvantage as RS485 - transceivers, but the original bootloader is able to use it for sw update. AN3154 CAN protocol used in the STM32 bootloader But sure. In a small device it is pretty overkill ;) For few slaves is the simplest option serial, for high speed SP...

Re: GSM GPRS Module at 1.93$!!!!!

A have ordered two and one was used (desoldered) as well. And why I don't care? It was cheap and it works, so I it fine. Few years ago I have been used mostly desoldered parts so it is like return to my childhood :)))

Re: news: Arduino STAR OTTO development board

The price is way to high to my point of view, especially that is not clear if the TouchScreen LCD is included in that price. Lets remember that STMDiscovery-F746 is priced at $49 ... ..or little bit more expensive ($78), but better option STMDiscovery-F769 . Anyway it looks like that it is the same...

@signal32 Re: Comparison with Android phones Yes and no. I know @mrburnette has looked at hacking a cheap Android tablet and I did the same thing, and there doesnt appear to be an easy way to do it, that gives you GPIO etc etc Interfacing to Android devices never seems to be that easy. You may as w...

Re: news: Arduino STAR OTTO development board

The license is pretty the same as STMicroelectronics EVALUATION BOARD LICENSE AGREEMEN on other devel boards from ST. I don't like it, but maybe the main reason is that the price of all these board is much lower as price of all components (ST link + main STM32Fx + MEMS/memory./display/...).
