Re: Flow sensor The lens on the one I have is adjustable, so can be used at various distances, so perhaps may work at 100ft or more. No idea about what it would do if you were at FL50 etc ;-) But, like you day they are cheap enough to warrant buying one to try, and they may provide additional data w...

Re: Long time reader , first time posting

Glen Yes. The trains are possible the best service in the country... But I don't know if Sydney's trains are better as I've only used them to get in from the airport Of course we dont have a train to the airport in Melbourne, as the state government is addicted to the revenue from the toll freeway t...

Re: Long time reader , first time posting

Hi Glen. I drove though Townsville about 15 years ago on a road trip from Brissie to Cairns, but it was a whistle stop tour, so I can’t remember much. Melbourne has pretty strange weather as well. “Four seasons in one day” etc. Hook turns don’t bother me, but I hardly every drive in the CBD, as the ...

Re: Long time reader , first time posting

G'Day from Melbourne. I think there are half a dozen aussies on the forum Not so many things in Victoria want to kill or eat us, but with the weather we have been getting over the last few years, I think a lot of them will be moving south.. I will check your weather e.g. Port Douglas, but I dont thi...

Re: aerospace engineer

Hi Arthur Re:ITAR It didnt cross my mind that the issue was regulations rather then technical. Probabiy not much use for when you are at altitude, but the "optical flow Sensors" ( while have a camera like in a mouse and calculate movement based on changes to sequential images), are becomming popular...

Re: OV7670, Generic STM32F103RC and ILI9341 display

FYI. I tried to get my camera and display working today, but found a load of wires broke off after I took it along to a Arduino club to show them some things you can do with an STM32. So it took me a while to work out where all the wires went and to sold them all on again (about 6 wires broke off th...

Re: aerospace engineer

When I looked at the MPU9150 I was using a library called RTIMU, but I must admit I didn't fully understand all the maths. I was hoping to get the the rough position of a object using the MPU9150 as an IMU sensor, but it was no good at all because any small errors got double integrated and hence the...

Re: aerospace engineer

HI Arthur

OK. That explains things ;-)

I originally started to look at the STM32 to process data from one of those IMU sensors

Re: aerospace engineer

Hi Arthur Sounds like an interesting project. I just wonder why you need such a powerful mcu for what appears a simple task. How are you measuring altitude ? I presume its barometric pressure? I know the Bosch sensors like the BMP280 are good at measuring changes in barometric pressure in a domestic...
