Re: Any Parallel in Binary Sizesf IDE for Board Created to Standard PC Binary?

Hi John I'm not really sure what the object of the exercise is. The bin size of Blink using Libmaple, even without Serial USB is far far bigger than on a Uno, but its like comparing chalk with cheese and saying which is the best. If you want to compare binary sizes, with similar devices, you should ...

Re: Partial / old code for a F4 Maple bootloader

Yes. That would be fine as well, though I suspect people would need to install the serial drivers sooner or later, e.g. using STM's own drivers or using the hack we use for Libmaple But I agree, USB mass storage is worth investigating, especially if it can have a unique name so that the uploader can...

Re: Partial / old code for a F4 Maple bootloader

Thanks I knew @jcw had done a high memory bootloader. He may have even started it as a low memory bootloader (it may be worth a look in the commit history) It had occurred to me that it could be adapted for the F4 as it uses LibOpenCM3 which has F4 support; so its definitely an option. I though that...

Re: Any Parallel in Binary Sizesf IDE for Board Created to Standard PC Binary?

The Maple Mini comes pre-installed with the bootloader (unlike all the other generic boards), so I didnt confuse the newbie users by adding a load of options which they don't need. I could add then for the Maple mini, but I don't recall anyone asking from them, and also you can select the F103C and ...

Re: RFID-RC522 crash my code

Sounds like the SPI class is may being correctly initialised under Visual Studio Although there are a few people who use the LibMaple core with Visual Studio, the Core (LibMaple) is only designed to work with the Arduino IDE and then only specific versions of the IDE. When I make a change to the cor...

Re: Partial / old code for a F4 Maple bootloader

Yep. No hurry. Its just a shame that there was a working port of the F1 bootloader to F4 but we have no way to get to the code as its on a defunct chinese language website. I guess I could try PM'ing the 2 or 3 chinese users on the forum and see if they could investigate, as they may be able to figu...

Re: Partial / old code for a F4 Maple bootloader

there is another scenario where the flasher could live at some 'high memory' address so that when the 'magic sequence' is received on serial-usb, we can jump to the flasher. but this still has a catch in that USB serial possibly always need to be initialised as disabling usb_serial possibly means d...

Re: Any Parallel in Binary Sizesf IDE for Board Created to Standard PC Binary?

You don't need to actually Upload via serial You just need to set the upload type to Serial, then compile. If you compare Blink with different upload types, e.g generic_stm32f103c Bootloader upload is 12548 Serial upload is 6212 i.e USB Serial takes almost half of the total file size If you are comp...

Re: Any Parallel in Binary Sizesf IDE for Board Created to Standard PC Binary?

What code did you compile? e.g Blink?

Which upload method did you select?

Most options compile the USB serial code into the sketch, which makes it a lot bigger.

If you want to compare with AVR you will need to select upload via Serial as this will not include the USB serial code.

Re: RFID-RC522 crash my code

You could see if it compiles for the Due or Zero, as at the moment it does not compile on STM32. Re: working 2 years ago. Why not just download the old version from github if it was working for you, and if you want to help the author make it compatible with STM32, then try some newer versions ( diff...
