i think you have a point there, i realised that there isn't a means to tell if a board is after all a blue pill, we'd need to make do with the present state-of-art - no changes :)

The stm32flash code starts the program after flashes even on DFU mode (BOOT1==1)

Boot1 should not be set to high when flashing via serial, as on the F103 I think this causes the upload to be put into Flash instead of RAM.

Please read STM's manuals on the STM32 for more details
