Hello from Perth Australia - (What happened to the Star Otto board)

Post by F7ECU » Sat Aug 26, 2017 9:00 am

Hi all,

Am new to the forum just wanted to say hello.

I'm interested in electronics DIY, in particular Arduinos with ARM M0-4 micros. And wishing for an M7  also.

On a side note was wondering if anyone on here knows anything about Arduino STAR/OTTO - the Arduino.org link from Google goes 404  ?

Looks like a very cool Arduino...

Cheers,

Matthew

Hi Matthew

Welcome.

@fpstm may be able to shed some light on the current status of the Star Otto, as he works for STM..
(It seems to be on STM's website http://www.st.com/en/evaluation-tools/a ... stm32.html)

Arduino.org did originally promise to send me a Star Otto when it was ready, but that was over a year ago, and I don't know if its ready yet.

If you want a F4 board, most people seem to be using what the call the "Black F407"

See

http://wiki.stm32duino.com/index.php?ti ... 4xx_boards

I have a STM F4 Discover, as well as a F4 from Seed Studio, and also this board

Arduino.org is closed and Musto is not related to Arduino anymore. The site redirect to Arduino.cc

I will PM Frederic and ask him if he knows what happening with the Star Otto.

Perhaps STM will make it, but considering all the problems that Arduino.org had with it, I don't know if it would be worth the hassle for them

BTW. I looked on Arduino.cc, but can't see the OTTO

Thanks Roger :) - would be great to get an update on Star Otto.

Ideally I would like to get my hands on an STM32 board pin compatible with Due/Mega.

Possibly a shield adapter for the board in the picture could work until/if Star Otto or something else comes about...

Compliments on a great site btw!

Cheers

Matthew

You could take a look at the Seed Studio Arch Max board

https://www.seeedstudio.com/Arch-Max-v1.1-p-2632.html

As it has the same header layout as the Due

But I don't know how compatibile it really is with the Due etc.

Hi,

Unfortunately, since the last announcement (mentionned by zoomx), I do not have news.
Moreover with the vacations period, our weekly conf call was cancelled. it should restart in September.

Arduino has released some Otto Light.
https://www.falatic.com/index.php/191/a ... first-look

As it is a hardware design made by Arduino, ST will not produce it as far as I know. ST help to integrate MCU.

Have fun:

The Seed Studio board is well made.

I have one, but I've not really used it.

I'm curious about what you are building that needs pin compatibility with a Due ????

Because if you won't need it pin compatible (in terms of the physical headers) there are plenty of other boards, which have the same level of performance and at lower cost
