Hello from Indiana

Post by douginarug » Fri Oct 13, 2017 11:05 am

I work with PLCs and industrial robots for a living. I use micro-controllers for my hobbies. I started out with pic then went to atmel (arduino). I have tried a few others along the way but I really like the arduino community. I especially like all the libraries that are out there.

I have two maples variants;
a maple mini r3 (clone)
a blue pill

I was initially lured to maple due to the increase in speed and more I/O over the Atmega328 variants. My projects usually include my other hobbies like (but not limited to) Remote Control (planes, cars, boats, & quadcopters), 3Dprinting, and "fixing" things that aren't broken. :D

With your experience, I dont think you will have many problems with the STM32.

I followed roughly the same route... I could never get to grips with the 8 bit Pic micros, despite a background in firmware dev back as far as the 1980's e.g. Motorola 68000.

But IMHO Arduino has really regenerated the microcontroller world for Makers, due to API standardisation and the wealth of libraries that are available.
