Hi.
I am a developer. The reason for registering on this forum, interest in the SD Bootloader for ArduinoSTM32, likeness avr_boot SD Bootloader for Arduino.

The only bootloader in my repo is the USB DFU one.
Perhaps someone wrote one to read SD via SPI etc, but I don't have anything like that.

One problem with something like that, is if it has to support FAT formatted file systems, I doubt it will fit in 8K.

Most or the STM32 cores are setup to work with a bootloader which is 8K (though the Maple mini settings for old bootloader will be 12k)

So you can have a bootloader of any size you like, just as long as you modify the core you are using to suit that size of bootloader

You did not give the link for the AVR_boot_from_SD, but I assume it is this one, or a near identical branch:
https://github.com/zevero/avr_boot

I suspect the community would be interested in something similar for the STM32duino boards. I do not have a use-case for such, but I think it would be a fun rainy day diversion. Welcome and good luck. You may find something useful in my response to a recent newcomer:
