The STLink device is not shown as a serial communication device (COM port), but as an STLink debug probe having a specific VID/PID.

This is because the ST-Link is a Jtag debug probe, not a serial port.

The STM32F10X board on the other hand, may or may not show up as a serial port, depending on a number of factors. This has been discussed at length several times elsewhere on this forum, including recently here -> viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2217 . If you need more information about this, let us know.

The Wiki has some useful information in this regard here -> http://wiki.stm32duino.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
... and here ... -> http://wiki.stm32duino.com/index.php?ti ... g_a_sketch
There is also a Linux based how to that gives more insight into the st-link here -> https://github.com/rogerclarkmelbourne/ ... from-Linux
