Proposal for moderators to rename threads etc

Post by RogerClark » Thu Aug 17, 2017 10:42 pm

I noticed another post this morning to this thread

http://www.stm32duino.com/viewtopic.php ... 229#p22229

The whole thread had a unless title , which I have just changed as it's title was "blue pill what's going on"
(Or words to that effect)

So I have renamed it, to more accurately describe the problem.

I think we probably need to do this more often, so that the site becomes a better resource.

Also, in this case the problem has been solved by the new bootloader binary, which is merged with a sketch so that the serial device, so the whole post has been superseded and should now be irrelevant.
I am tempted in this case, to remove the thread entirely as it's now confusing and unrepresentative of what people should experience when using the bootloader

I've moved a few threads to the Graveyard, mainly if the OP never bothers to reply to the final answer from a forum member who is trying to help out.

I guess we should handle these cases a bit like github issues. e.g. ask the OP if the issue is resolved and if they don't reply in a few days, the issue / thread should be closed (moved to the Graveyard)

In fact, I think its best to move them to the Graveyard, and post requesting an update, and periodically we can cull / delete the oldest and completely dead threads, but in the mean time, I think we will have quite a few Zombie threads

Love the idea. Reminds of a VLAN at work for old servers we call Boneyard...

Before deleting them we should maybe extract the solution to the particular problem, and add it to a wiki or howto, if not already there.

Some of these are threads where the OP didn't reply to confirm that the problem was ever fixed.
