Breadboard wire

Post by Kenjutsu » Sun Sep 17, 2017 2:34 pm

Hello everyone,

I want to buy single/solid core wire to make my own custom length wires when wiring up a project on a breadboard. Searching on AliExpress gives mixed results, so I was wondering, will the following work:

8colors PCB P/N 30AWG Wrapping Wire 250meter Flying Jumper 820FT Multicolor Cable Ok Wire DM-30-1000

Or, alternatively, for what should I search for on AliExpress to get the right selection of wire?

Thank you ;)

only if you plan to wire-wrap your connections

i think it's more like 20 or 22 gauge is needed :?: :?:

I've got several meters of cat-5 patch cable (solid wires inside) and using them on my solderless breadboards. The wire is not tinned, but that is not a big problem..
wiki:
Since 1995, solid-conductor UTP cables for backbone cabling is required to be no thicker than 22 American Wire Gauge (AWG) and no thinner than 24 AWG, or 26 AWG for shorter-distance cabling.

The digital signals are pulses with ~hundreds of megahertz frequency spectra (because of the signal edges) - those frequencies are pushed into a few microns thin layer at the surface (skin effect) which is made of copper - no problem for our duino-breadboards wiring :) Also I can hardly imagine a 10m long wire used on the breadboard :)
